Reflection On Hebrews 1:1-4
"Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs." (Heb 1:1-4)
God
has spoken to us..One
of the difficult questions to answer in Christian life are “How we
could know God? How we could know His voice? How we could understand
His will?” Most of Christian will say that we know God through His
word in the scripture. Then we will find that to understand the Bible
also a difficult task. There are a lot of interpretation from various
perspective about the text of the bible, from educated Christians to
the newborn Christians we will find different perspective on
interpreting the word of God.
In
Psalm 19 God speaks through the creation and through His Law. The
creation declares His glory and proclaims the work of His hands. John
1:1-18 testified that Jesus Christ, the Word (Logos) who became flesh
and dwell among men, made known the invisible God to men. John
testified that only Jesus who has ever seen God, He who is at the
Father's side. So when we come to Hebrews 1:1-4, stated that “in
these last days he has spoken to us by his Son..”.
From
this verses, I reflect that the only way to know the Father is only
through Jesus Christ. We can not depend on our knowledge, our own
understanding or skill to know God. Without Christ our effort will be
useless, even though when we dilligently study the bible with all the
time and skill we have. Christ is the way to know the true God. He is
the complete and the perfect revelation of God in human history. He
is the final and ultimate revelation of God, no one else and nothing
else after Him. He is the Alpha and the Omega.
Christ
ultimate majesty are described on this verses (1-4). He is the owner
(heir) and the creator of all of creation. Christ is the true image
of God's substance (In Colossians “the
image of the invisible God”,
in Philippians “being
in very nature of God”).
Thanks God that now in Christ we have the way to have direct
relationship to the Father. Christ is the perfection of God
revelation to us. Through Him only we can approach God, through our
prayer. God listens to our prayer in Christ alone. In His name, every
people from every background can enter God's presence because of His
work of sanctification of sin. What ever their condition, people who
are poor, distress, rejected, sinners when they sanctified and
purified in Christ, they have their access to God. Our God is God who
knows the pain of His people. Through Christ works in the cross, He
accepted and bore the pain of His people. Through the power of His
resurrection, He brings the people of God to be progressively and
completely restored in their relation with God. It is all not because
our works, but because of His amazing grace in Jesus Christ.
