Genesis 6
Ketika manusia itu mulai bertambah banyak jumlahnya di muka bumi,
dan bagi mereka lahir anak-anak perempuan,
maka anak-anak Allah melihat,
bahwa anak-anak perempuan manusia itu cantik-cantik,
lalu mereka mengambil isteri
dari antara perempuan-perempuan itu,
siapa saja yang disukai mereka.
○ Kuantitas manusia bertambah banyak
○ Bagi mereka lahir anak-anak perempuan yang cantik-cantik
○ Anak-anak Allah =>
Berfirmanlah TUHAN:
"Roh-Ku tidak akan selama-lamanya tinggal di dalam manusia,
karena manusia itu adalah daging,
tetapi umurnya akan seratus dua puluh tahun saja."
○ Roh Allah tinggal dalam manusia--anak-anak Allah
○ Manusia itu adalah daging
Pada waktu itu orang-orang raksasa ada di bumi,
dan juga pada waktu sesudahnya,
○ Orang-orang raksasa
ketika anak-anak Allah menghampiri anak-anak perempuan manusia,
dan perempuan-perempuan itu melahirkan anak bagi mereka;
inilah orang-orang yang gagah perkasa di zaman purbakala,
orang-orang yang kenamaan.
○ Anak-anak yang lahir: Orang-orang gagah perkasa, orang-orang kenamaan
Ketika dilihat TUHAN,
bahwa kejahatan manusia besar di bumi
dan bahwa segala kecenderungan hatinya
selalu membuahkan kejahatan semata-mata,
maka menyesallah TUHAN,
bahwa Ia telah menjadikan manusia di bumi,
dan hal itu memilukan hati-Nya.

- Daging akan tertarik kepada kedagingan
- Kejatuhan anak-anak Allah dalam dosa memilih perkawinan dengan manusia-daging yang cantik secara fisik, namun hidup dalam kedagingan-dosanya
- Daging akan membuahkan daging (dosa)
- Usia sebelumnya 3-4 kali lipat dari 120 tahun.
- Here in v. 3 God speaks a second time, again speaking of "man" (GK H132) as "humankind."
- Between these two statements of God about humankind is the list of ten great individual men, whose length of life stands in stark contrast to the "one hundred and twenty years" of the life of humankind.
- The inference is that it was God's Spirit dwelling with these men that gave them their long lives. The sad reality is that such long lives belonged to another age and that they were exceptions rather than the rule. The shorter life marks humankind's fall and separation from the Creator. Thus the author continues to show the ages of the men of the book and notes that generally their ages grow increasingly shorter (cf. 11:10-26).

Ketika dilihat TUHAN,
bahwa kejahatan manusia besar di bumi
dan bahwa segala kecenderungan hatinya
selalu membuahkan kejahatan semata-mata,
maka menyesallah TUHAN,
bahwa Ia telah menjadikan manusia di bumi,
dan hal itu memilukan hati-Nya.
